Job Title: Plant Manager Reports to: COO Department: Operations Position Overview The Plant Manager reports directly to the COO and directs and oversees all people, processes and equipment in the Production, Inventory, and Maintenance departments, with a major emphasis of developing and fostering a well-trained, high performing, and motivated team. This role establishes plant policies and procedures, ensures the production schedule is consistently met on-time-in-full, manufacturing and product quality complies to all Quality systems, regulations, and procedures, and all inventories are accurate and optimized. The Plant Manager will drive a Continuous Improvement culture, helping to identify and implement opportunities to improve our quality of products and services, control and decrease costs, enhance food and employee safety, and improve all aspects of our business. Objectives and Responsibilities Direct the activities of the Production, Packaging, Warehousing, Facilities, Maintenance, Quality, and administrative departments for the Company to remove wastes and continuously improve organization, cleanliness, quality, compliance efficiency, costs, delivery and food and employee safety. Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed capacity requirements and all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, responsiveness, and food and employee/ workplace safety. Lead, coach, enforce, empower and direct hourly and salaried Production, Packaging, Warehousing, Facilities, Maintenance, Quality, and administrative departments to perform and achieve in-line with Company values, strategies, objectives, KPI's, processes and policies. Drive compliance to meet all cGMPs (per Title 21 C.F.R. Part 110, 111, 117, & 121), state and federal environmental regulations, and employee welfare requirements. Help develop, train and guide employees to understand and follow Standard Work, SOPs, SSOPs, and Quality standards. Lead and develop a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture, utilizing principles and techniques of Lean Enterprise/ CI such as 5-S, training (x-training, one-point lessons (OPL)), problem solving with root-cause analysis, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), etc. . Participate in/ Lead process improvement for the entire supply chain. Establish safety as a top priority in training, equipment, job design, work assignments and regulatory compliance, including helping enhance the Safety Committee, driving regular safety inspections and improvements, compliance with all OSHA regulations, and managing the Company's IIPP's. Work closely with the ELT and other departments on manufacturing plans, capacity requirements and new product commercialization. Ensure all required resources are addressed and obtained to ensure successful product launches. Oversee the research (including make/ buy analysis and ROI), budgeting, purchasing and implementation of new equipment and services. Negotiate service contracts with outside vendors to achieve the highest levels of performance at the lowest cost in compliance with the Company's values and standards for business conduct. Develop and manage Company and department objectives, initiatives, and KPI's, such as OEE - Overall Equipment Effectiveness), production labor, costs/ unit, yields/ purge, safety incidents and issues, etc. to meet and exceed targets/ goals. Oversee Inventory control to ensure accurate inventories, and that the right materials are available with the right quantities, in the right place, at the right time. Ensure maintenance of a safe and clean manufacturing environment including changing rooms, bathrooms, warehouse, and all facility interiors and exteriors. Prepare, control and execute the annual budgets for all departments. Enable company sustainability strategies and initiatives to move to a zero-waste facility, providing leadership and guidance to Production/ Packaging and Maintenance departments to foster this behavior. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Proven leader in building, developing and managing highly engaged teams Strong ability to develop and oversee KPI's for effective performance Proven ability to manage effective change Possesses a s trong customer focus outlook Substantial ability to develop a learning and training environment Demonstrates a desire for continuous learning and improvement. Experience with Lean Manufacturing/ CI is a strong plus Strong experience with P&L management; understands financial reporting and budgets to ensure facility and productions costs remain at or under budget Consistent ability to identify and implement cost savings Thorough understanding of supply chain Proven strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), and administrative skills Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, time-management, and project management skills Advanced knowledge of business systems applications, including ERP and WMS, with proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint) and VISIO/ SmartDraw or like software Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and accountability Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication concepts, specifically, written, oral, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills. Comfortable in communicating with, presenting to, and dealing directly with Sales, customers, suppliers, logistics partners and management. Operate with integrity in all situations. Values open communication Education and Experience 7-10 years of gummy/ confectionary manufacturing experience which includes supervisory responsibility in a fast-growth manufacturing environment Masters of Business or other related field preferred Bachelors Degree in engineering, supply chain, or other related field required. Strong computer and business system skills with efficiency in ERP/ MRP/ WMS and Excel Lean/ Six Sigma and/ or APICS certification is beneficial Fluency in English required; high proficiency in Spanish required Work Environment and Physical Requirements Production and Warehouse environment Extensive computer/keyboarding work as well as other office equipment.
