Description:BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Electrical Technician performs
duties under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager.
Works independently to perform maintenance, repair, and/or
modification of the plants computer driven controls systems and the
plants mechanical and electrical systems. Performs electrical,
controls, and mechanical repairs to plant machinery, equipment and
facilities. Responds to plant control needs or electrical issues.
Performs PLC programming. Maintains plant IT hardware. Upgrades
machine controls and safeties following NEC and State codes. All
procedures and practices used are grounded in standards,
regulations and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA),
building and electrical codes, and food safety and food quality
(FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with
Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Employee is responsible for their own work,
and must adhere to all safety, food safety and quality rules and
procedures. * Upgrade all machine controls to current PLCs and
machine safeties to CAT 3 level.* Monitors and installs electrical
equipment per NEC code. * Provides electrical safety training to
maintenance personnel to include arc flash, qualified workers, LOTO
3 point verification, provides technical training to maintenance
department. * Provided troubleshooting assistance to maintenance
department. * Manage changes to the electrical system to include
P.M.s, single line diagrams, arc flash surveys, panel ledgers, and
switching equipment to 480 volt to eliminate the 208 volt service.
* Provides technical training to maintenance department such as
relay logic, AC / DC motor troubleshooting, VFD & PLC programming
and troubleshooting. * Work with internal and external resources on
plant projects. * Work with corporate IT department to maintain all
plant IT hardware (MDF, IDFs, SAP terminals, public address system,
analog / digital phone lines, PA system, LEDS, Ethernet and fire
system). * Assist with continuous improvement to include electrical
safety improvements, programs and work streams, and autonomous
maintenance activities. * Work with QA on establishing equipment
calibration procedures as well as calibrating process meters
(temperature, pressure, level and flow). * Coordinate annual
thermal scans & circuit breaker testing. * Prepare and maintain all
specific documentation related to job activities.* Follows and
enforces standards for food safety and food quality production
reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and
governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA.* Effectively
communicate with coworkers and outside contractors.* Be discreet in
the use of company confidential information Perform other duties as
required* Lead in maintaining documentation for existing and new
equipment, control and building power system installations.
Champion transposition of mechanic notes/sketches to new wiring
schematic drawings.* Work independently in troubleshooting and
repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers, Servo
Controlled Systems and related components when required.*
Responsible to collect back-ups of all PLC programs to a server
location so as to facilitate the reload and reboot of PLC systems
to restore faulted equipment.* Lead in obtaining all technical
documentation (manuals, drawings, instructions, schematics, etc.)
for all plant production and support equipment. Also responsible
for collection of VFD parameters from critical equipment and
storing in a common server location.* Assist with system startups
and operational checkouts on systems including configuration,
wiring, calibration, grounding and power testing.* Diagnoses cause
of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of equipment or
systems repairs or replaces defective components.* Experienced in
the use of electrical diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, amp
clamps and meggers to test electrical circuits and components to
locate shorts, faulty connections, defective parts and replaces or
repairs to suite.* Interface with equipment operators and
maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipment.*
Disassembles replaces or repairs mechanical and electrical
components.* Must read and interpret electrical and electronic
drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings and sketches
to determine problem and make appropriate repairs.* Examine and
test components and support systems to ensure that they are in
compliance with all standards and regulations.* Must be competent
to make electrical/mechanical diagnostic evaluation and prescribe
corrective action.* Test and calibrate electrical/electronic
systems and components to ensure that they are operating properly
or locate defects.* Dismantles devices to gain access and
remove/replace defective parts.* Uses computerized equipment and
software to perform testing functions and produce graphs for
records and tracking.* Assembles and installs electrical and
electro-mechanical components and systems.* Devises, sets up and
operates electronic instrumentation and related electro mechanical
or electro pneumatic/hydraulic apparatus used for operation of
mechanical or electrical equipment or drives.* Utilize technical
materials such as equipment manuals, MSDS, safety materials, system
drawings, Process and instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), schematics
and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.* Writes
procedures, work instructions and work orders and maintains records
of repairs, calibrations and tests in the SAP system.* Must be able
to work overtime and other shifts as assigned.Minimum
requirements:(Knowledge, skills, abilities, education,
certifications and training normally required for competent
performance in the job). Education and/or experience: * High school
diploma required* Associates degree in Electronics or
Electromechanical Technologies preferred.* Two years or equivalent
combination of education and experience in writing, programming,
and trouble-shooting Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen-Bradley
preferred).* Background in Programmable Logic controllers, computer
systems and electronics. Experience using both DC and AC motors, VF
Drives and Servo Controlled Systems (Allen Bradley preferred).*
Experience with industrial PLC's, electrical / electronic
experience a plus* Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office is
preferred.* Candidate must be willing to take courses to keep up
with advancing technologies.* Minimum 2 years experience with plant
floor automation and office Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet network
wiring and Fiber optic NetworkPhysical Demands The physical demands
