Summary of Position: A highly skilled and specialized automation design person that works under minimal direction to specify, design, and detail components and systems for new and existing industrial automation equipment. This position will support all levels of machine design and build and help ensure all proper engineering documentation is generated and maintained. Design of all mechanical machine elements, from component level up through machine level systems. Specify, select, and source pneumatic cylinders, flow controls, gauges, regulators, robotic grippers, rotary actuators, solenoids, and pneumatically operated devices. Design of systems that incorporate electrical sensing devices, temperature control devices, proximity switches, reed switches, linear voltage displacement units, electrical clutches, electrical brakes, motors, vibratory inline / bowl controls, servos, coils, and fiber-optic control systems as needed. Specify, select, and source slides, bearings, rotary indexers, vibratory bowls, and other specialty components or sub-systems as needed. Design new fixtures, gages, and tooling made of various metals. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints for the fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of components and systems. Qualifications:Machine and component design experience.Experience generating and maintaining component and machine level documentation, including CAD drawings, bills of material, and written procedures.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and management team.Good verbal and written communication skills.Solid computer skills, including CAD, word processing, and spreadsheet experience.Minimum two year associates degree.Minimum three years experience in a similar automation design engineering role.OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Requirements:Machinist background.Electrical panel build and wiring experience.ISO or QS experience.
