Position Title: Lecturer - Chemistry

Employment Type: Full-Time Academic Staff

Reports To: The lecturer reports to Chemistry's Department Chair, who acts on behalf of the Department's Executive Committee, and the position reports to the Dean of CNHS.

The Chemistry Program offers an array of B.S. concentrations in Chemistry emphasizing biochemistry, pre-health, business and natural products in addition to an ACS approved concentration. The Department is strengthened by its ties to local industry, access to a wide array of instrumentation including GC-MS and LC-MS, and close relationship with the Departments of Biological Sciences, Geosciences and Math/Physics within the College.

Pay Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Essential Job Functions

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time, lecturer position to begin August 2022. The successful candidate will teach first-and second-year chemistry (general, inorganic, and organic) courses - lectures and labs based on expertise, participate in the on-going assessment and revision of these courses, and coordinate the instruction one or more first-year labs. The academic year teaching load is 30 credit hours, or equivalent. Service will include participation in Department and College meetings, and outreach and retention initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities

90% Teaching: First-and second-year lecture and lab courses (general, inorganic, and organic) based on professional area of expertise; on-going assessment and revision of courses taught; coordination of one or more first-year lab courses.

10% Service: Participation in meetings, Department and College outreach and retention initiatives.



  • Minimum degree requirement: Masters in chemistry or related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and in the assessment of student learning.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and with a diverse population.
