Bakery Manager - Southeast Market

Company: Festival Foods
Location: Kenosha
Posted on: June 8, 2021

Job Description:

Job Summary

Do you have Bakery Manager, Pastry Chef, Scratch Baker, Culinary or other leadership experience? We want to talk to you! Festival's Grocery Operations Leadership Development program (aka GOLD), is an approximately 8-month jump start to all that is Guest Service leadership at Festival. Fun fact: the majority of what we sell in our Bakery we make in our full-kitchens in-store! Our Bakery Managers lead our team of skilled Bakers, Donut Fryers, Cake Decorators.

This manager trainee program is approx. 5-months spent in the technical side (our leaders at Festival need to be able to jump in & work any role within the department to set their team up for success - that's where the technical training comes in). About 3-months is focused on the leadership side (we know often times individuals joining this program have prior leadership experience, but every company does things just a little bit differently, so this will provide a great leadership foundation to your career at Festival).

Beyond incredible career growth opportunities with a fun company, we also know that our leaders and associates need time away from work to balance their lives, so we're proud to offer work-life balance scheduling for our Department Managers as well as 15 days of PTO for our full-time associates.

More about our work/life balance:

Festival Foods has decreased scheduled work-week hours for department managers companywide. The new 40-hour schedule replaces the 45-hour plus weekly schedules that remain common throughout the rest of the retail & restaurant industry. "We recognized that associates who enjoy their lives outside of work are more productive while they're at work," said Frank Abnet, Festival Foods senior vice president of operations. "This change is about giving our department managers more time to do what they love outside of work."

In addition to the decrease in scheduled hours, Festival Foods has implemented core hours - a set window of time a department manager agrees to be in the store every shift. Outside of core hours, managers may choose to work earlier or later in the day to round out their shifts. "Say a manager and their leader have agreed that the associate will work core hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. That associate may choose to work 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. or 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on any given day. It's their choice," Abnet said. The freedom to choose their non-core hours increases flexibility. "This is a game-changer for department managers who seek more flexibility with their schedules, and we hope it will provide them a better work-life balance," Abnet said.
