system experience preferred Description: Daily treatment,
ventilator, Bipap, and Airvo checks are required. PRN treatments,
codes, bedside procedures, and skin integrity must be maintained.
The Respiratory Therapist is required to attend all emergency
codes, first responses, and trauma alerts. Attending any
emergencies and RRTs is mandatory. The assigned Respiratory
Therapist to the area should always attend emergencies. Other
Respiratory Therapists may arrive and can be dismissed if needed.
Two Respiratory Therapists are usually present during emergencies
to aid with CPR, intubation, and equipment retrieval. Patients
requiring PRN treatments, BiPAP/CPAP assistance for medications,
eating, or comfort will be attended to at any time. Respiratory
Therapists may have to travel to various departments for testing,
transfers, and during physical therapy. Bedside pulmonary function
tests will be conducted and sent to pulmonology. Overnight pulse
oximetry testing and bedside bronchoscopies may be performed any
day or time. Arterial blood gases will be drawn and run for ICU and
critical patients. Scheduled cough assist, IPV, and CPT are part of
the responsibilities. Participating in deliveries is required if
critical and support for neonatologists may be needed. Assistance
with desaturations and changing therapy modalities like heated
high-flow cannula to BiPAP is expected. Equipment must be pulled
and cleaned; supplies that are not stocked must be maintained. The
bronch cart and most glidescope machines will be under their
supervision. EKGs may need to be performed during off-hours in the
absence of a technician. Testing for brain death and setting up
Nitric Oxide in OR and ICU is required. Setup for Heliox and
notification of management for gas orders are responsibilities that
